I have not done the Great Central Road myself yet, I plan to do it in July, but I would guess no.
I used to own a 2012 Honda Civic and we frequently travel on dirt roads to visit family and friends. We once took it down a fairly well formed dirt road and the experience was, for the most part, terrifying. And we didn't even travel 100 kms, let alone the 1000+ that is the great central road. It's a front wheel drive so your back end will slip and slide all over the place at high speeds and around corners.
Tyres are not suited either, ideally you would have light truck/all terrain tyres (both for better grip and stronger resistance to punctures), which cannot be fitted to a Civic. The suspension is suited only to sealed roads, and it is likely that with such small shock absorbers that they would overheat on the corrugations.
In short, a Civic on an unsealed road is not a comfortable experience, and you may end up paying for more than accommodation if something goes wrong with the car.
